* The insulation time is the time to failure measured on the surface of the PROMASEAL® Pillows. In some instances, where insulation measured upon the services is the required criteria, this time to insulation failure can be substantially shorter, e.g. for a steel or copper pipe passing through the barrier. If insulation measured upon the services is the relevant criteria for a specific project, please consult Promat Technical Department to ensure the appropriate performance can be obtained.

PROMASEAL® Pillows

PROMASEAL® Pillows (SP) are compressive products made of quality cloth envelopes enclosing high temperature, granulated fire resistant material. The pillows are used to maintain the fire resistance of walls and floors, where openings for services are located. They are typically installed around cables and non-combustible pipes which need to be regularly altered. PROMASEAL® Pillows are available in THREE sizes:
1) Large, 250mm x 300mm x 40mm;
2) Medium, 250mm x 200mm x 40mm; and
3) Small, 250mm x 100mm x 30mm.

PROMASEAL® Pillows have been successfully tested and assessed by independent laboratories to meet the requirements of AS1530: Part 4 and BS476: Part 20 for fire ratings in excess of 180 minutes. For FRL above 180 minutes, please consult Promat. When exposed to fire the pillows will remain in place and form a fire barrier by charring and creating a solid mass of insulating material. The following installation guide outlines some typical areas of application.

Recommended Specification

Where appropriate, with or without service penetrations, the specified floor/wall openings should be properly fire stopped using PROMASEAL® Pillows capable of providing a fire resistance of -/180/- when tested and assessed in accordance with AS1530: Part 4: 2005 and/or BS476: Part 20: 1987. Installation of any fire stopping product should be carried out according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Please consult Promat for more details.

PROMASEAL® Switchbox Intumescent is usually available through specialist electrical equipment suppliers only. Please contact Promat for details of local stockists.
